About

Our practice has been evolving to meet the needs of Sacramento families for over 50 years. We have also broadened our horizons to service our loyal patients from out of town, out of state and even out of the country.

The comprehensive eye examination is our only way to diagnose and treat eye conditions and diseases before they become symptomatic, and before vision is permanently threatened. It is recommended that all patients have this examination done once per year. For those who have less than perfect vision capabilities we offer our full service optical department and spectacle laboratory, or our services in fitting with the latest soft or rigid contact lens designs. Our in-office contact lens laboratory enables us to fit even the most difficult cases, utilizing custom fit rigid gas permeable lenses to correct higher prescriptions of nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism. Our doctors are also certified and experienced with corneal reshaping technology, which can offer the right candidate excellent uncorrected vision without glasses or daytime contact lenses.

Since the cornea (fron surface of the eye) must be smooth and free from distortion to produce a clear image to the retina, patients with corneal irregularities present with unique challenges.  This could be due to a dystrophy or degeneration such as Keratoconus, Keratoglobus or Pellucid Marginal Degeneration. It could also be a patient that has had corneal trauma, corneal transplantation, or has had an unfortunate and unforeseen refractive surgical outcome. Guidance, cutting edge care, and the best vision possible for this often underserved population will be provided.

We are a primary care facility, equipped to manage and triage any ocular emergency. Our doctors treat ocular allergy, bacterial infections, viral infections, dry eye conditions, ulcerations, abrasions, chemical burns, lacerations, or just about any emergent condition that could possibly occur. We also diagnose and treat or co-manage any ocular disease such as cataracts, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, glaucoma, and retinal breaks, tears, or holes.

We promote refractive surgery conservatively, and only for the right candidates. We screen any potential patients thoroughly and co-manage with only the best refractive surgeons, ensuring that you get the very best post-surgical result.

Our doctors are often chosen to be investigators in FDA clinical trials and studies designed to further technology and increase our knowledge of ocular health. Many of these studies result in new applications to our practice philosophy, and enhance and update the care we can offer to our existing patient base. If you fit the demographic, you may find yourself being asked to participate in one of these studies.

Patients presenting with degenerative corneal conditions like keratoconus require customized care. Using our in-office laboratory, visual acuity and comfort can be optimized for the Keratoconic patient.

Keratoconus Treatment

Are there any alternatives for correcting vision besides refractive surgery? What if we could non-surgically change corneal shape in a controlled manner while the patient sleeps, resulting in excellent visual acuity during waking hours without the use of glasses or daytime contact lenses? We can!
